Junior Certificate School Programme

The Junior Certificate School Programme (JCSP) is a national programme under the PDST (Professional Development Service for Teachers).

JCSP is an intervention into the Junior Certificate/Cycle. It helps make the curriculum more accessible and relevant to students who would benefit from a different approach to the Junior Cycle.

Students work towards obtaining JCSP Statements that are relevant to subject curricula and skills development. This allows them to track their own progress. Statements are achieved through a student-centred approach to education by providing students with a programme to meet their individual needs.

The Programme is designed to ensure that these young people can benefit from their time in school. This is supported through school-based initiatives, engagement with curricula and development of skills.

At the end of their time in St Paul’s, students are award a JCSP Certificate from the Department of Education at our JCSP Graduation. This serves as a record of individual statements that the student has achieved over their time in the programme.

JCSP Initiatives

Initiatives encourage attendance, progression and working with others. They are integral in building new experiences for students and are used as learning tools both inside and outside of the traditional classroom.

Below are just some Initiatives students have participated in over the years.
